The 2021-2022 “Augmented Sustainability” corporate retreat takes place in Mendocino County’s scenic Anderson Valley, which is known for its fantastic wineries, pristine, old-growth redwood forests, and rugged Pacific Ocean coastline.

As with all Omega Wolf Trails team training sessions, the focus is on refining rapid and flexible divergent thinking and group leadership skills, all conducted in beautiful outdoor settings and complimented by seminar-style discussions accompanied by the best of Californian farm-to-table cuisine and locally made wines.

The primary difference between the day-long sessions and retreat-style workshops is the intensity of focus, in which high levels of team cohesiveness will be forged in a shortened timespan.

Participants will also be provided with selected reading and viewing opportunities to avail themselves of prior to the workshop that are designed to enhance the training experience and deepen its learning potential.

In addition, the opportunity to spend several excursion-filled days in a single location allows participants to get to know the community in which they are visiting through hands-on exploration, enriching the value of this unique, team-based training opportunity.

The estimated cost for the workshop, including accommodations, tour costs, and tasting fees, is $2000 per participant. Minimum group size is 5 and maximum group size is 10.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the start date in 2021 has not yet been specified, but tentatively the first workshops will take place in the autumn months, which coincide with the Anderson Valley’s annual grape harvest. Day 1

The workshop will begin on Thursday morning with a group gathering at Plank Coffee in Cloverdale, Sonoma County. From there, the group proceed into Anderson Valley, where participants will be able to check in their rooms at the Boonville Hotel, where the first team training session is scheduled to begin.

Day 2

Friday activities will all take place in Anderson Valley at local parks, farms, and wine tasting venues, with the two main meals of the day (breakfast and dinner) provided by kitchen staff of the Boonville Hotel.

Day 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, Saturday’s activities will begin at 10 am at the Ukiah Farmers’ Market and continue with excursion to the redwood forests and Pacific Ocean coastline of Mendocino County before returning to Anderson Valley for wine, meals, and outdoor group activities in the evening.

Day 4

Sunday is the departure day and opportunity for a morning group discussion and recap of the workshop’s diverse events and experiences. Following a concluding tour in Sonoma County at Ridge’s Lytton Springs estate vineyards, workshop participants are free to head home, or they can explore downtown Healdsburg’s diverse offerings with the help of the workshop organizer.

Day 1: Meeting Point
Plank Coffee

Our workshop will begin on Day 1 with a group meetup in picturesque downtown Cloverdale, in Sonoma County, at the Plank coffeehouse. Here, participants can enjoy locally made organic baked goods and breakfast fare with single-origin coffee and a wide selection of loose leaf teas. Day 2: Excursion
Hendy Woods State Park

Even though this California state park is slightly less than 1,000 acres, it protects not one but two old-growth redwood groves along the banks of the gently flowing Navarro River. Trails here are accessible and educational for nature lovers of all ages. We will visit the main grove for group learning activities and subsequent seminar-style discussions at a nearby picnic site next to the river. Read the Yelp reviews here.

Anderson Valley Wine Tastings

Our workshop will include vineyard tours and wine tasting experiences at local wineries who are committed to sustainable, organic, and biodynamic growing techniques. These will include Drew Family Wines, Phillips Hill Winery, and Pennyroyal Farm, who make award-winning single vineyard Pinot Noir as well as a range of Alsatian, Rhône, and Austrian varietal wines. Day 3: Excursion
Montgomery Woods State Nature Reserve

Montgomery Woods State Nature Reserve is one of the most unique sites in all of Northern California for experiencing the profound majesty and quiet power of an old-growth redwood forest in its pristine natural state. The reserve protects a fascinating collection of ancient giants in various states of growth and regeneration, far from major highways and crowds of tourists or other guests. Access is only available on a narrow, one-lane highway and facilities are very limited, but the rewards for visitors who make their way to this hidden gem of nature are beyond compare. Accommodations & Meals
The Boonville Hotel

Unless alternative arrangements need to be made, all workshop participants will spend three nights at this historic roadhouse turned boutique hotel in downtown Boonville. The farm-to-table restaurant is staffed by a talented team, led by head chef Perry Hoffman, who brings culinary experience gained working in Napa Valley and Healdsburg. Chef Hoffman relies on local farmers, ranchers, fishermen, winemakers, and foragers to design the elegant evening menus. Day 1: Tour
Roederer Estate

Our first scheduled group event will be a tour and tasting of the sparkling wine facilities at Roederer Estate, the first French Champagne house to establish roots in Anderson Valley in 1982. Day 3: Excursion
Ukiah Farmers’ Market

Day Three of the workshop will begin with a visit to the Saturday morning outdoor farmers’ market in downtown Ukiah, the largest in Mendocino County. Here, participants will choose items for picnic lunch later in the day and acquaint themselves with the local organic food movement. There is also an excellent coffee roasters nearby. Day 3: Excursion
Navarro Point Preserve and Coastal Trail

This small but scenic 56-acre preserve is managed by the Mendocino Land Trust. It protects dramatic coastal bluffs and terraces of wildflowers and other native plant species. A gentle footpath leads from the highway to ocean overlooks and cliffside viewpoints.

Day 4: Tour
Ridge Lytton Springs

Our final scheduled workshop event will be a vineyard tour and tasting at one of Sonoma County’s most famous and innovative wineries, whose eco-sustainable facilities and century-old Zinfandel vines are both amazing to witness in person. Following the tour, the workshop will conclude with a wrap-up discussion, after which participants are free to depart for home – or continue the day in downtown Healdsburg with the workshop organizer.
